Welcome in the Name of Christ:
The members of Zion welcome you! Your presence is a blessing to us, and we pray that your faith will be strengthened through the Good News of the gift of salvation freely given by our Heavenly Father.

Our Church is affiliated with the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod and with the Kansas LCMS. We hope you spend some time learning about the Lutheran Church at these sites and check out the rest of our site for news and events at Zion, and we would invite everyone to come by to worship with us.

UPDATE 5/13/2020: The Board of Elders met with Pastor Letcher on Monday, May 4, 2020. Listed below are the decisions made regarding opening our building for Worship at Zion:

Sunday, May 17, 2020: Zion will be open for you to attend service in the Sanctuary. We will continue to encourage Safe Practices such as Social Distancing. You are welcome to wear a mask if you prefer to do so. You may also continue to access the video of the service anytime on YouTube by subscribing to our station: Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newton, KS. An Audio file and PDF of Pastor’s weekly sermons are available on the website under the Media tab. Listed below are the current guidelines we are following:

We will NOT offer Communion at the May services.

Sunday School for our students and Sunday Adult Bible classes will NOT meet in May.

Small groups: Confirmation Classes, Weekday Small Groups & Board meetings CAN begin meeting again at the group leaders & members discretion.

Monday, June 1st: Pastor Letcher & Elders will meet to reevaluate how to proceed in June.

If you do not feel comfortable attending Worship, by all means, stay at home.

To this end, if you are in a High Risk category that is more susceptible for contracting Covid-19, we ask that you stay at home and we will do what we can to keep you involved with the Worship life of the Congregation. Categories include: Over 70 age group, high-risk health concerns (respiratory issues, asthma, heart disease, lung disease, or diabetes), or live with someone in these categories or has a compromised immune system.
